Privacy policy
Last updated October 25, 2026
Longwave is a podcast player. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. This policy explains the small amount of data that leaves your device.
What stays on your device
Everything you do in Longwave is stored only on your phone: your subscriptions, playback positions, played episodes, downloads, playback speeds and settings. We do not have a server, and we never see this information. Deleting the app deletes it.
What the app sends over the internet
- Podcast search. When you search, your search text is sent to Apple’s public podcast directory (the iTunes Search API) to find shows. Apple’s privacy policy applies to that request.
- Importing subscriptions. If you import an OPML file from another podcast app, the file is read on your device. To match each show to its podcast directory entry, the app sends the show’s name to Apple’s public podcast directory (the iTunes Search API), and it downloads the feeds listed in the file from their publishers. If you import from a link, the file is downloaded from the address you entered. The file itself is never uploaded anywhere.
- Podcast feeds and audio. To show episodes and play them, the app downloads RSS feeds, artwork and audio directly from each podcast’s publisher or hosting service. Like any web request, these servers can see your IP address. Private feeds you add by URL are fetched only from the address you entered.
- Crash and performance reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a diagnostic report to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider. Reports contain technical details (the error, the app version, the device model and OS version, and a random installation identifier) and a sample of performance measurements. They do not contain your name, email, subscriptions or listening history, and they are not used for advertising or tracking. Sentry processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your data.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- We do not collect contacts, photos, location, or microphone audio.
Device permissions
- Notifications (Android): used only to show playback controls while audio is playing.
- Motion (iOS): used only to detect a shake to extend a running sleep timer. Motion data never leaves the device.
Children
Longwave is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
You can stop all network activity related to a show by unsubscribing from it, and you can remove all locally stored data by deleting the app. Because we don’t hold any account data, there is nothing for us to delete on a server; crash reports are deleted automatically after Sentry’s retention period.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and the policy published at this address.
